Durable Rooftop Solutions – Completed Roofing Work
BJ’s Brewpub in Fairlawn – Duro-Last® Roofing System
We bid the Duro-last® Roofing System as an alternative to TPO. The plans called for no ponding water, which can void most TPO and EPDM warranties. Although the structural roof had 1/4″ engineered slope built into the top cord of the trusses, we were left with the task of creating drastic slope back to all the drains. Instead of solving this using tapered Poly-ISO insulation boards, we opted to use 2×6 framing lumber and plywood sheathing. This technique saved the customer money, was much more stable, and we didn’t need to use 10″ – 12″ of tapered insulation and screws. Needless to say, there is no ponding water, which does not void Duro-last warranty but is concerned best roofing practice.
Secondly, we used Duro-last’s pre-engineered PVC deck sheets (with 85% of all seams dielectric ally welded at the plant). This drastically reduced the time on the roof required for drying-in. This allowed the General Contractor to move the trades inside faster, especially for drywall, tile, kitchen and electrical work. The deck sheets where combined with pre-engineered curb and stack flashings, increasing our ability to reach completion date sooner.
Lastly, we used custom coping and edge metals around the perimeter at all the various parapet heights. In particular, the 2-piece compression metal extends the roof warranty to the outside edge of the building walls. As Durolast like to say, Edge to Edge and Deck to Sky, coverage. This also reduced construction cost when compared to coping cap. The look from the street is identical and with the membrane flashed over all parapet walls, creates a monolithic roofing system.
We are proud of our recently completed project for RSI and BJ’s Brewpub and look forward to working closely with the general contractor on new endeavors.

In this project, we did a 2-piece “step” coping cap, gutters & downspouts, and a 20 Year Duro-fleece Plus fully adhered roof over two layers of ISO insulation and cover board. Roof will be pressure washed to white when finished.
